Description: An annual, fast-growing plant, with many branches, all covered with soft glandular hairs, which give off the characteristic tomato smell. Leaves are interruptedly unpaired pinnate bearing in their axils yellow star-like flowers arranged in clusters. The fruit is usually a multichambered, juicy berry, but in cultivated plants it greatly varies in shape, size and colour, and can be globose to irregularly lobate, smooth or deeply grooved, red, yellow or orange. Description: A perennial plant of shrubby growth, reaching about 50 cm in height. Its numerous leaves are heart-shaped or ovoid, serrate, sparsely hairy. Description: A shrub or tree up to 8 m high, with light greyish-brown, vertically cracked bark. The branches are greyish-white, with white pith inside. The leaves are unpaired pinnate, with oblong-ovoid, serrate leaflets. The creamy-white flowers, arranged in dense flat clusters, appear from the end of May till July; they give off an intense, sweetish smell.
